Discover the Nature at the Tenafly Nature Center

Located in the Bergen County in the borough of Tenafly, this 400-acre woodland sits idyllically over the Palisades in north-eastern New Jersey with panoramic views of the Hudson River. Land preservation is the main objective here and the center strives to educate the visitors on the same. The nature center has got to offer 6 miles of hiking trails and several streams to explore. You can spot native wildflowers in the spring season and there is a separate visitor’s center with nature exhibits and live animals you can check out too.

Appreciate the Artworks at the Princeton University Art Museum

With over 92,000 pieces of classic artworks, the world renowned Princeton University’s Art Museum is a historical spot with origins dating back to the 18th century. The museum is open for art display every day of the week, except Mondays and national holidays. The timeless works of art on exhibition in this museum range from antiquity to the contemporary period, with a major collection of Roman and Greek antiquities. The Museum is also recognized for its Asian Art Gallery that includes a wide assortment of paintings, jade carvings, Chinese calligraphy and ancient bronze works.

Visit the Iconic Drumthwacket

You cannot claim that you are living in NJ unless you go on a tour to one of the most iconic mansions located in Princeton. Drumthwacket was registered as a governor’s mansion in 1982 and today, it is open for guided tours on Wednesdays. There are six public rooms on the main floor that was used by the governor to conduct meetings and 12 private rooms upstairs. Apart from that, there’s a royal dining room, solarium, music rooms, library and a parlor to explore. You are also welcome to visit the historic Olden House or make your way through the beautiful gardens.

Explore the Cape May County Park and Zoo

Home to a wide range of exotic wildlife animals, this park and zoo sits on 220 acres of land in the Cape May Court House. With more than 550 animals representing 250 species, the zoo provides free year-round admission from 10 AM to 4:30 PM, except on the day of Christmas. From the snow leopards to giraffes to white tigers, not only will you get to see beautiful creatures, but you can also indulge in the scenic setting of the lush green park.

Family Picnic at the Ponderosa Spray Ground

The Ponderosa Spray Ground is an ideal place to be, on a sultry day in New Jersey. Spread across 23 acres of land, this spot in Scotch Plains incorporates two big playgrounds, walking trails, rock climbing walls, tunnel slides, and a sprinkler park. There are picnic tables spread throughout the parkland and the ambiance is just perfect for people of all ages.
