The city of Hackensack is part of Bergen County and acts as the county seat. Although the city is situated within the state of New Jersey, it is also considered a New York City suburb, as it is only twelve miles away from Midtown Manhattan. In fact, the skyline of the Big Apple is visible to most residents, giving the area spectacular panoramic views, particularly at night. The city is also home to the USS Ling, a submarine that was used by the navy during World War 2.
