The name FairLawn was taken from an estate home owned by Mr. David Acker in the 1860s, which eventually became the official Municipal Building. - Cadmus House Museum: The Cadmus House Museum is the official Museum for Fair Lawn borough. It is an old Dutch-like built structure which houses Fair Lawns’ historical artifacts like uniforms used during the World Wars and authentic arrow heads used by Native Americans. There are also old farm tools, some parts of the famous Hopper-Croucher farmhouse, as well as maps dating to the 1880s. The Fireman’s Room upstairs displays pictures of early firefighters and the old equipment they used to fight the infamous Plaza Building Fire of 1941.
- Garden State Plaza: This two-story mall is the largest of its kind in New Jersey and the third largest in the New York Metropolitan region.
