Must-Go Beaches in New Jersey

beaches in new jersey

When it’s summer, people from the East Coast typically love going to the beaches and boardwalks in New Jersey, which is home to several stretches of beaches. New Jersey beaches are well-known for their cleanliness, amenities, and accessibility. Most New Jersey beaches require you to have beach tags for access. Without further ado, below are several must-go beaches in New Jersey:

Cape May

Cape May is located on the southernmost tip of New Jersey, and renowned for its vibrant 19th-century architecture, stunning beaches, and oceanfront dining options. Cape May has approximately 2.5 miles of coastline. Visitors can play volleyball at Second Avenue Beach or Steger Beach, as well as hang out at surfing spots such as The Cove, or laze around for some solitude.

Avalon

If you are an early riser, you will love the magnificent sunrises by the shores of Avalon. Later on, you can lounge on an inflatable raft, swim or surf at this beach in southern New Jersey. The beaches in New Jersey are easily accessible, and the surf chair program allows physically challenged individuals with wheelchairs to navigate sandy surfaces.

Ocean Grove

Ocean Grove spans over 640 acres and is a small coastal town located in the Jersey shore center. The beach is perfect for boogie boarding, surfing, and is excellent for a family day out for playing in the sand and wading in the shallows. Out of all the beaches in New Jersey, Ocean Grove offers essential amenities such as restrooms and shower facilities. Additionally, they have lifeguards around to keep visitors safe. A boardwalk is also accessible for relaxed strolls.

Ocean City

Ocean City is named America’s Greatest Family Resort and is home to one of the best-known boardwalks in New Jersey. The city has a shoreline spanning almost eight miles and is flanked by Great Egg Harbor Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Spend lazy days along 16th Street or Waverly Boulevard riding the waves, enjoying a yoga session on the sandy beach, or biking down the boardwalk.

Sandy Hook

Sandy Hook has several bays and ocean beaches that are perfect for fishing, windsurfing, swimming, and biking, all within the Gateway National Recreation Area. The oldest, but an operational lighthouse in the U.S., is found at Fort Hancock, which is a former Army fort in the park. You can have something to eat at the food trucks during the summer.

The Wildwoods

The Wildwoods is a resort area located in southern New Jersey. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the space between the oceanfront and boardwalk at some points measures 500 yards, allowing the beaches to host major events such as concerts and monster truck rallies. This vibrant beach is not for anyone looking for a quiet time. The beaches are free for anyone to access.

Seaside Heights

The public beaches of Seaside Heights cost $8 every day you visit, except Bay Beach, which is free. The Seaside Heights Boardwalk runs along the Seaside Heights Beach, and there are many arcade games and carnival rides. Food options include Kohr’s Frozen Custard, a century-old Seaside Heights delicacy.

Brigantine Beach

Brigantine Beach is located 5 miles northeast of Atlantic City. It has areas set aside for surfing, fishing, and swimming. Enjoy a barbecue on the beach in summer, or ride horses in October and March. Attend free movies all summer nights. The beach is clean, family-oriented, and uncrowded.

The beaches at New Jersey have so much to offer. If you are looking for a property in New Jersey, look for a reliable local real estate agent to guide you through the process.
