Haworth is a borough in north-eastern Bergen County and was incorporated in 1904 from portions of Dumont and Harrington Townships. Haworth is a residential suburb of New York City and is occupied by roughly 3,000 residents in roughly 1,000 households. While small in size, Haworth is surrounded by, and is within minutes of Closter, Demarest, Dumont and Oradell. It is also just 15 miles from New York City, offering a quick and easy commute for those working in the City.
Haworth has a highly rated school system and the Haworth Public Schools serve almost 500 students. Students in grades 9-12 attend the highly rated Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest – which serves the communities of Closter, Demarest and Haworth. In 2008, the Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest was listed 9th in New Jersey Monthly magazine’s list of 316 top public high schools.
Haworth is served by New Jersey Transit bus route 167, running to Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. Haworth is also served by New Jersey Transit bus route 186, running across the George Washington Bridge to the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal in North Manhattan.
